Opti-Heal

Opti-Heal the first program of its kind combining two proven techniques for repair and pain relief all in one.

About the procedures; PRP and Prolotherapy

Platelet Rich Plasma

Prolotherapy procedure is the injection of an irritation substance, most commonly used dextrose, in joints, ligaments, and tendons to promote the growth of healthy cells and tissues using growth factors and making them stronger, tighter, and more stable. The key is the stimulation of Growth Factors, similar to PRP, to repair, stimulate, and make stronger whichever tissue or joint that has the problem. This procedure has been studied and used successfully for over 75 years. This is an excellent option for patients who cannot have surgery or who do not want surgery and have an alternative treatment.

During the consultation, Dr. Nerette will evaluate every patient and recommend which treatment is best for who and for what condition. It is my experience most people are candidates for either our Opti-Heal procedure or either PRP and Prolotherapy alone.

The procedure is painless, and you will be able to return to work or home right away. Depending on which process we decide to use an area to be treated, it may take 30 minutes to 90 minutes. The average number of the procedure depends on the injury and location, but for more, it may require two to three treatments. Patients usually start to feel better with less pain and improved movement of joint in 6 to 8 weeks; the maximum effect in 3 months.

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) procedure uses concentrated platelets from your blood which are your bodies natural stem cells. Stem cells help in repair by stimulating Growth Factors and healing proteins boosting your body to heal itself. To create the PRP, a sample of blood is obtained from the patient and placed in a specialized machine that concentrates and separates the important platelets. Local anesthesia is usually used to minimize any discomfort, then small amounts of the platelets are injected in the problematic area. Again, this is a great option for the patient to possibly avoid surgery or as an adjunct.

The procedure is also painless, able to go back to work right after the process. The procedure usually takes from start to finish around 60 minutes. Depending on the injury and the health of the patient it may require 2 to 4 treatments, yet I have seen patients with significant improvement after one treatment. Patients usually start to see improvement in pain at three weeks, with maximum effect at month 3.

Both procedures treat from osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, plantar fasciitis, ACL tear, ligament sprains, tennis elbow, ankle sprain, tendinitis, to name a few.

Now imagine combining BOTH procedures in one. For most patients, they see quicker healing and a faster decrease in pain.
